Cat Harbor wasn’t technically an anchorage for us. We arrived with every intention of anchoring but were working on cruising guides that were tragically out of date. The anchorage area of days past has long since been filled up with mooring balls and so now the allowable anchorage area is farther out and in deeper water.
We approached from the Northwest and from this direction the entrance isn’t immediately obvious. Head for your approach waypoint and once you get closer you will begin to see where you can enter the harbor.

While we were there we grabbed a mooring at the winter rate. The rate only $2 more for a week as it is for two nights, so we decided to stay the full week. There is plenty of kelp floating around here so you should expect your mooring pennant to be covered in it. Laura had to do some mad scramble to clear the pennant before we blew off and had to try again....
Services
Cell Service – We were able to get spotty cell service at our mooring and we were one of the ones farthest out. Cell service got better as you got closer to town.
Wifi. – There may be WiFi available at times in town but it wasn’t up and running while we were there. As we were still in the winter season there was no rush to fix it and it didn’t seem like it would be up and running until the summer season kicked into gear.

Dingy Dock – There was a dock and it was free to use. It wasn’t very big so it seems like it would get pretty crowded during the summer.
Garbage – There were 2 dumpsters near dock where you tie up your dingy.
Recycle – There wasn’t anything near the dingy dock but you could carry a small bag to the walking path containers in town.
Potable Water – There was a water hose at the dingy dock. We never got around to asking if it was potable water.

From the dingy dock it’s a short walk up a dirt road to get to the other side of the isthmus and the rest of the services
Showers. - Yes. $2 for 3min - These were terrible. Lots of quarters. Unreliable machines and only a 50/50 chance of getting any hot water.
Laundry. – There is a small coin laundry beside the bathrooms and showers. These worked fine. There was a change machine and a vending machine for soap and bleach and softener.
$3. Wash
$2 dry
$1.25. For laundry soap
General store – Yes. A small general store with the expected small resort island pricing. This is not where you would do a big provisioning run but it’s good to get the things you need.

Bar/Restaurant Yes – There was a nice bar and a few eating options. Pretty quiet while we were there but this would obviously get pretty busy during the summer months. Good clam chowder and good fries and friendly staff.
Chandlery – no

All in all Cat Harbor was a great stop and we would be happy to go there again!!
