Hi!
We're Marc and Laura and our boat is "Liquid"
We are a Canadian and a Californian who lived in San Francisco, CA until we left on this Journey in February 2017.
Marc learned to sail on his CAL 34 in San Francisco back in 2001. He spent a few years completely refitting her and intimately learning all her boat systems, all while learning to sail in the San Francisco Bay.
Once he turned her into a solid Coastal Cruiser, he singlehanded her nearly 1500 miles from California, down the Baja Peninsula, up into the Sea of Cortez and eventually back down to Puerto Vallata, MX.
Laura spent years as a Rope's Course Instructor and Instructor Trainer focusing on Team Building for everyone from corporate groups to disadvantaged youth.
More recently she worked with a company focused on providing training in Emotional Intelligence skills. She has a passion for people, cooking, dancing, hula hooping and spinning fire on the beach.
Their sailing life together started in 2007 cruising Western Mexico. After a few dreamy months on the Mexican Riviera they knew they were really hooked. It was clear that if they wanted to travel farther and longer they needed a bigger boat. One that they could live on and travel the world.
They found “Liquid” in Puerto Vallarta and got to work bringing her back from near death. After 3 years in the boatyard in Mexico they did the “Baja Bash” North together 1500 miles uphill to San Fransico.
Over the next 6 years they kept working and improving her. Every cabin was taken apart at one time or another. Bulkheads were removed. The plumbing and electrical systems were all updated. Rusty steel was cut out and new plates welded in. On and on...
There were countless distractions and interruptions but they kept pushing towards their goal.
They lived in Rio de Janerio, Brazil for eight months and after that commuted to work in Houston from San Francisco monthly for 2 years. They were involved with Burning Man camps and building large scale art projects. They had all the distractions of normal lives but kept pushing and working until Liquid was "ready enough".
That was in February 2017.
Since then they have sailed thousands of miles and are still counting.
A message from Marc and Laura about Shared Cost Passages
We would love to be able to share the magic of cruising and offshore sailing with the right people.
Please remember though,
we don't actually even need crew!!
We have sailed from San Francisco to Panama City and back without crew and are perfectly fine sailing on our own. We have found however that we miss the social aspect of having people on board.
We enjoy having friends share the journey so we have decided to open our home up from time to time and for select passages. We both enjoy teaching and sharing our experience with those that are genuinely curious.
Have a look at our social media feeds on either Facebook or Instagram to get a little more of a feel for us. We even have a few videos on YouTube you can look at.

If you think you may be a fit have a look at the upcoming passages and see if anything works with you.
Feel free to apply for a crew opportunity and we will see if we may be a fit. :-)
We get a lot of applications so please remember that just filling out forms doesn't guarantee you will get to be crew.
Also we are often without internet so it may be a week or two before we can get back to you.
